Brgy nods poker room in fun center
ILOILO CITY – From all indications, Brgy San Rafael in Mandurriao district has no opposition whatsoever against the operation of a poker club within its jurisdiction.
Brgy. Resolution No. 12 dated August 5, 2009 became a vital basis for the Iloilo City zoning board and adjustment appeal to conduct a series of public hearings in the barangay that may eventually lead to positive ruling for the operation of a first Poker Room in this southern city.
Conducting the public hearing October 7, 2009 in the barangay were members of the zoning board led by city legal officer Edgar Gil, Atty. Noel Naciongayo and Hernani Guillergan.
Vankapts Inc., operator of several poker clubs in Cebu, Manila and Pampanga, is set to enter Iloilo with its own poker games under the regulation of Pagcor as a special place for foreigners and retires who would want entertainment through a card game. City tax collection overshoots target
ILOILO CITY – The city tax collection efficiency recently scored 95 percent tax collection efficiency by posting actual collection P912,329,254 for the period January to September 2009.
In her report to city mayor Jerry P. Treñas, city treasurer Katherine Tingson said the actual collection for the last 9 months is nearing its target of P958,494,995 budget estimate for the whole year of 2009.
Records from the city treasurer’s office showed that the city has scored 86 percent actual tax collection for the period January to August this year with the remaining four months expected to overshoot its estimated budget.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said he is happy with the performance of the city treasurer’s office and other city department offices in tax collection after instituting tax collection mapping and high gear computerization put in place since last year. This may also inspired tax paying businessmen to contribute to the overall performance efficiency. Read more
