Police uncovers Manila-based crime group operating in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY– The police has uncovered a modus operandi of a Metro Manila-based crime syndicate in Iloilo after four hold-uppers were slain in a shootout with police forces last October 1, 2009 in San Dionisio, northern Iloilo.
Iloilo provincial police chief, SSupt. Ricardo de la Paz said the four were members of a Manila-based holdup group “Commando” in partnership with some members of the dreaded Ilonggo group.
This also validates early reports on the presence of a Manila- based crime group earlier spotted in Iloilo, de la Paz said.
The group was also a suspect in the highway robbery of lady manager of a lending firm also in Sara town late last month.
Police operatives led by Supt. Ipil Dueñas of the 608th Police Mobile Group, were able to bag the four suspects at the Nipa Bay Beach Resort in Brgy. Nipa, San Dionisio after robbing a Chinese commercial establishment in Sara, Iloilo of P23,000 cash and cellular phones of shoppers.
De la Paz identified three of the four slain men as Eric Almenar, Sonny Madriaga and earlier identified suspect Reynold Rumauak, all residents of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, Metro Manila. The cadaver of the remaining suspect has yet to be identified by the police.
